Cherubic, jolly and cute as a button, Charlie Webster is the one you can count on for morale.

The 18-year-old is stout and loves his food. He's an orphan. He lives with his grandmother, Emma, who smothers him with affection. His family major-domo, Trixie Lulamoon the unicorn mare, bullies him constantly. Trixie resents the fact that Granny is constantly praising Charlie and making Trixie take care of Charlie. Charlie worships Flea Levine. Flea is like the brother he never had. Charlie whines a lot when he's hungry, or thirsty or scared. But Charlie also has an indomitable spirit of cheer. He's the one who's always keeping the morale in the group. He may whine but he won't give up. He has a couple of fears - a fear of heights, a fear of ghosts. Charlie is good-natured, and generous, he will share his sweets with everyone. Charlie just wants to have fun, and gain independence from his grandmother. He also hopes to see one "fifty pence" in his lifetime.

Several years before, in 2022, Michael had worked on a production entitled Jack Frost. The main story creators of Fighting Spiders, Alberto Garcia and Amos Yee, had seen Jack Frost, and when they were working on the story for Fighting Spiders, they already had the image of Michael for the part of Charlie. It was only natural that when it came to casting for the role, Michael was called in for audition. The only concern was whether Michael may have matured and changed since his Jack Frost days… and he turned out quite perfect for the role!
