Sunset Beach replaces Dallas; Candid Camera joins Afternoon Prime lineup

Long-running daytime soap Sunset Beach has officially taken over from Dallas on 666 Network’s 4:05pm Afternoon Prime slot.

Due to low ratings, it was decided that Dallas would be taken off the air. The choice of Sunset Beach to replace Dallas was a particularly difficult one to make, as there are few other daytime soaps still airing today apart from Days Of Our Lives (which will fill the 2:30pm slot on 666 Network) and The Young and the Restless (which will be on the 3pm slot on ABC-ZNN).

Sunset Beach originally aired on NBC between January 6th 1997 and New Year’s Eve 1999. The show focusses on the love and lives of several families living in the Sunset Beach area of Southern California; in particular the story of Meg Cummings (played by Susan Ward), a young lady from Kansas who came to Sunset Beach to meet a man she had been chatting with online, who turned out to be a business owner named Ben Evans (played by English actor Clive Robertson). It is notable for being one of the few daytime soaps that does not have any known playboy/playgirl characters.

Meanwhile, Candid Camera has also joined the 666 Network Afternoon Prime lineup. Hosted by the late Dom Deluise, the award-winning hidden-camera prank game show was a hit during its original airing in 1992.
